Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: that the Hermann Goering Division is to take up a new defensive position by September 20; that the Hermann Goering Division appreciates further Allied reinforcements and attacks, on September 19; two reports on the Hermann Goering Division withdrawing according to plan and the Allies increasing in strength, on September 19; of a railway line on the east coast of Italy being cut by bombs and sabotage, on September 19; that the northern tip of Sardinia has been evacuated by the Germans, on September 18; that personnel, armament and motor transport are to be ferried from Corsica to the mainland, on September 18; of a German Air Force (GAF) bomber unit in Italy experiencing unserviceability of a large number of special weapons, on September 19; that the failure of supply is threatening to stop production at two war factories in Italy, on September 19; and that Von Richtofen, Commander of the 2nd Air Fleet, is no longer subordinate to Kesselring but to the Commander in Chief (C-in-C) of the GAF directly, from September 9; on South-east Europe: that two ships of a German convoy bound for Rhodes to embark Italian troops were set on fire by British naval units, on September 19; on Western Europe: that north Atlantic U-boat warfare is to be resumed with new weapons and equipment said to promise success, from September 15; on the Russian Front: a ground situation report for September 18; from the German secret service, that the C-in-C of the Navy has ordered that all leading personalities concerned with the treacherous act of the Italian fleet are to be taken into custody, and to confirm that in accordance with the Supreme Command of the Navy, the Admiral commanding was shot as an example, on September 16; and Naval Headlines.
