A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on South Europe: that the German evacuation of Sardinia is to be completed by September 17; that Elba is being occupied by anti-Axis Italians, on September 16; and that the German police suspect that three Italian battalions are preparing for action against German troops in Rome, on September 15; Naval Headlines, covering the Germans being upset at the treachery by the Italian fleet; and a request for confirmation that the admiral commanding had been shot; and on Germany: that the German Air Force (GAF) seek pilots and officers for a new night-fighter Me109 formation, on September 14.
