Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: a BONIFACE summary from Brigadier Hollis for the Prime Minister (PM); from Washington to the Code and Cypher School (CSS), on September 14, that signals intelligence reports were delivered to the PM; on South Europe: that the German Navy orders a full night operation by E boats against the Allies at Salerno, on the night of September 13-14; probably a 14th Panzer Corps situation report for September 13 at Salerno; the Italians on Corsica report the loss of Bastia to the Germans, but that vigorous defence is continuing, on September 14; that German Air Force (GAF) bombers are to attack warships in Salerno Bay, on September 14; of the German 1st Parachute Division's success against the Italians, on September 12; that the GAF are to attack Bastia, on September 13; and the Germans on Corsica report renewed fighting at Casamozza, on September 13.
