This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: a report for September 3 that the Allies' outflanking movement landed in the Palmi area; of supplies being removed from Southern Calabria according to plan; of rail lines being cut in Allied air raids in Leghorn, Civita Vecchia, Pescara, Bologna and Bolzano; of traffic being interrupted in the Naples area; of trains in reserve in Northern Italy being seriously delayed; of the fuel situation being strained, and of a request for fuel trains to be given priority; and a German Air Force (GAF) report of a raid on Bizerta, on September 6-7; and from the Polish Embassy in Washington: a report of the Quebec Conference including the terms for Italy's surrender, on September 1.
