This file includes the following correspondence: the Japanese minister in Lisbon recommends a conciliatory attitude towards Portugal, on August 31; and reports that an Allied assault on Europe should be regarded as imminent, making a guess as to the probable target areas for landings, on September 2; and from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, relating the views of a German contact on the Italian campaign, on September 3.
