Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following correspondence: the Japanese minister in Lisbon recommends a conciliatory attitude towards Portugal, on August 31; and reports that an Allied assault on Europe should be regarded as imminent, making a guess as to the probable target areas for landings, on September 2; and from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, relating the views of a German contact on the Italian campaign, on September 3.
