Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: German Naval Command reported that 2 to 3 Allied Divisions had landed by 2000 hrs on September 4, and that the front line ran from Bagnara to Spartivento; landings and landing craft traffic reports on September 4; that the Italian Admiralty estimate in excess of a thousand Allied aircraft were involved in the landings on September 3; that roads and railways in Crotone are still useable despite repeated air attacks, but there is traffic congestion between Crotone and Sibari, on September 3; and of Taranto being evacuated on September 4.
