A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following correspondence: from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, on the German propaganda line regarding U.K.-U.S.-Soviet relations, on August 28; the Belgian minister in Lisbon discounts rumours of a German intention to withdraw from France, on August 30; from the French chargé in Tokyo, on Japanese preparations for evacuations from towns to the countryside; and on rumours of an attempt to assassinate Tojo, on August 27; and from the Italian minister in Bucharest, noting the effect of the fall of Kharkov on the Romanians, on August 24.
