A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following report: a SUNSET intelligence summary from Brigadier Hollis for the Prime Minister (PM). This file also includes the following correspondence: from the Code and Cypher School (CSS) to Washington for the PM, giving references of Japanese and German diplomatic telegrams, on August 31; the reply from Washington, on September 2; from the Japanese Home Office representative in Berlin to the home office in Tokyo, on the evacuation of school children from cities, on August 27; from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, forwarding the views of the Italian chargé on German-Italian relations, on August 25; and detailing a conversation with Vice-Minister Steengracht on Italy and on the Soviet Union, on August 25; from the Turkish minister in Bucharest, on the movement of German divisions to Italy, on August 28; from the Japanese minister in Lisbon, on rumours of a Soviet-German peace, on August 25; and relaying the views of a Hungarian press correspondent on the German situation, on August 22; from the Japanese minister in Berne, on the prospects for the restoration of the Spanish monarchy, on August 27; from the Belgian Legation in Lisbon, that it was questioned by London concerning information that Germany is to withdraw from France, on August 26; from the Portuguese minister in Washington, on the U.S.' response to a peace initiative on behalf of Italy, on August 25; from the Japanese minister in Madrid, on the Allies' approach to the war, on August 20; and from Ribbentrop to all German diplomatic posts, describing the need to dispel false rumours regarding the military and political situation in Germany with a positive view of the war, on August 24.
