Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: a BONIFACE summary from Brigadier Hollis for the Prime Minister (PM); and a SUNSET intelligence report; on South-east Europe: that German garrisons at German Air Force (GAF) airfields in Albania and Dalmatia are to be increased, and the Italians are not to be told, on August 20; from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, noting the Swedish abrogation of the German transit agreement, on August 16, and German dissatisfaction with the transit of French escapees through Spain; from the Portuguese chargé at the Vatican, giving Vatican views on Allied policy towards Italy, on August 17; from the Chinese chargé in Berne, describing the effect of Allied bombing on Germany, on August 17; from the Japanese ambassador in Rome to the ambassador in Berlin, urging German support for Italy, on August 15; and from the Chinese minister to the Vatican, on the Italian and German internal situation, as of August 13.
