Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: a BONIFACE summary from Brigadier Hollis for the Prime Minister (PM); and an extract from a SUNSET intelligence report; on South Europe: German intelligence report that Italians in the Bolzano area are constructing defences to prevent a march-in, on August 14; from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, detailing Italian-German talks on the new Badoglio government, and that Italy is to continue in the war, but Germany is on her guard, on August 10; the ambassador advises against Japanese attendance at German-Italian conferences, on August 10; from the Japanese ambassador in Rome, on the Italian situation, as of August 10; the ambassador advises against Japanese attendance at German-Italian conferences, on August 10; from the Portuguese minister in Budapest, describing the Hungarian reaction to the bombing of Germany, on August 12; and from the Turkish ambassador in Berlin, on an Allied air offensive on Germany, from August 11.
