Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: a BONIFACE summary from Brigadier Hollis for the Prime Minister (PM); on South Europe: of Vibo railway station being heavily damaged, with rail transport no longer being possible, on August 14; the German Navy reports continuous ferry traffic in the Messina Straits on the night of August 14-15; on the personnel and material evacuated from Sicily up to August 14; of a heavy increase in Allied air activity over Sicily and Calabria, on August 15; that the Germans do not expect to complete the evacuation of Sicily before August 18; that the Germans continue the construction of jetties in Sardinia, on August 15; on the strength of the German Army personnel in Sardinia, on August 13; that the German Air Force (GAF) may be required for the air defence of Rome, on August 14; and that Carabinieri is to facilitate cooperation between German supply organisations and the local populace, on August 12.
