Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on South-east Europe: that a large section of Italian officers in the Balkans is eager to return to Italy; and on signs of mass desertion by the Albanians, on August 1; that the Portuguese ambassador to the Vatican intercedes with a German colleague regarding the bombing of Rome, on August 1-2; from Madrid, on the U.S. ambassador's meeting with Franco, on July 31; from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Berlin, on the German situation in Italy, as at July 30; that the Greek minister in Berne was approached by a Papal Nuncio on Greco-Italian relations, on July 31; of Bulgarian designs on Greek territory, on August 2; and from the Turkish minister in Lisbon, on the Italian situation, as of July 31.
