Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: of the Leghorn harbour situation on August 1, detailing a lack of fuel and a shortage of lorry space, and the arrival of the hospital ship Aquileia; on the Sicily ground situation on August 1, noting the Allies are pressing from the south and south-west; and of an Allied air raid on Pratica, on July 30; on South-east Europe: that the German Air Force (GAF) are unable to occupy Gruda airfield for a lack of military support, on August 1; from the Greek ambassador in Ankara, describing a meeting between the Turkish and new Italian Foreign Ministers, on July 28; and from the German ambassador in Madrid, relating Spanish reactions to the change in the Italian government, on July 29.
