A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: that the Germans expect increased Allied activity in view of the change in the Italian government, on July 26; and a German Air Force (GAF) reconnaissance report on Sicilian harbours and airfields on July 26; on South-east Europe: of Axis vessels being sunk, on June 15 and July 26; Naval Headlines; from the Japanese ambassador in Istanbul, giving the German and Italian ambassadors' views on Turkey and the war, as at July 20; from the Foreign Ministry in Rome, on Italian notification of resignation by Mussolini, on July 26; and from the Japanese ambassador in Rome, on a meeting between Hitler and Mussolini, on July 22.
