A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: on the transport movements for the Hermann Goering Division, on July 16; that naval stocks of diesel fuel at Palermo and Trapani are to be transferred to the Messina Straits area, on July 18; that a British submarine sinks an Italian vessel off the mouth of the Tiber, on July 19; of advance arrangements to be made at Palermo for the destruction of Italian warships, on July 19; that the German Air Force (GAF) target for early on July 20 is to be the warships at Syracuse and Augusta; that Axis bombing attacks planned for the night of July 19 are to be on shipping at Valetta with alternative targets listed at Syracuse and Catania; a situation report for July 19 in Sicily; and that the Commander in Chief (C-in-C) South's intelligence department appreciated that the main Allied effort would continue to be with the 8th Army, from July 18.
