Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: of a visit to Sicily by Kesselring, on July 16; German Air Force (GAF) intelligence report the position of an Allied convoy on July 17, which led to an appreciation that a landing would be attempted behind the Axis front line; details of the damage at Foggia, especially to the goods station, on July 16; that a wireless tower in the heel of Italy is to be removed, on July 17; and that Allied motor boats sank in the Straits of Messina, on July 17; and from the Japanese minister in Lisbon, relaying information from the Spanish ambassador on British pressure on Portugal, on July 15.
