A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on South Europe: that German Air Force (GAF) air support is required to prevent an enemy break through, on July 16; that the GAF are to locate an encircled parachute regiment on July 17; that the GAF are to put all air support into the Schmalz sector, on July 16; a German situation report for the Catania area on July 16; of traffic being chaotic in Messina on July 15; that the Schmalz Brigade claims success against tanks with assault guns, on July 15; that the Schmalz Brigade claims 60 British tanks, on July 15; the 2nd Air Corps' aircraft serviceability return for July 16; of GAF operational orders for July 17; of the Italian 203rd Coastal Division at Cagliari, on July 14; that an Italian cruiser and destroyer are to sail from Naples-Taranto, on July 16-17; a German secret service report on the collapse of morale in the Italian forces, on July 16; on North Europe: that polar coast convoys are to be made large to relieve the pressure on the German Navy and GAF, on July 16; on South-east Europe: that an Allied landing in Greece is expected on July 15; on the Southern Russian Front: a German intelligence report on Soviet activity, from July 13; and from the Japanese minister to the Vatican, detailing Foreign Minister Ciano's views on the war situation, on July 10.
