Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on South Europe: that German Air Force (GAF) ground elements are to evacuate Palermo, on July 15; that Oberst Baade was appointed the German officer commanding the Messina Straits, on July 14; that ammunition dumps in western Sicily are to be blown up, on July 14; that Brigade Schmalz has four parachute battalions, on July 14; that the Germans are to withdraw to the plain of Catania in the face of attacking Allied tanks, on July 14; and that the Hermann Goering Division is sending artillery to Franco Fonte, on July 13; and on the Southern Russian front: that the GAF are to support the offensive battles of Army Group South, on July 14.
