Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on South Europe: that Kesselring gives Brigade Schmalz in the Catania area additional forces, on July 13; that Brigade Schmalz is to receive the mobile reserve of the Hermann Goering Division, on July 13; of losses at Monte Corvino airfield in Naples in an Allied raid, on July 13; of losses at Monte Corvino, on July 12; a German Air Force (GAF) situation report on Sicily, for July 12; that German troops are to destroy Canicatti, on July 11; of Allied infantry advancing south of Canicatti, on July 12; that the Goering Division loses 200 men, on July 12; that the GAF are to attack in the Syracuse-Augusta area with only weak forces on July 13; that German air landing reinforcements arrive in Sicily, on July 12; of heavy fighting in the Augusta area, on July 12; on worthwhile targets for GAF long-range bombers in the Augusta area, on July 13; of a GAF low-level attack on the U.S. advance, on July 13; the Commander in Chief's (C-in-C's) situation report for June 30; and of a GAF attack on Bone harbour on the night of June 29-30.
