A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on South Europe: on the front line held by the Hermann Goering Division on Sicily, as at July 12; that the German battle group at Empedocle cannot hold with the available forces, on July 10; that German forces give up Catania as a port of discharge, on July 13; that the German Air Force (GAF) are to transfer ME109s to Sicily, on July 12; of an Allied air raid on Trapani airfield, on July 11; and that a Fortress Battalion is to be ferried to Sicily on July 12; on the Mediterranean: of GAF reconnaissance of Bizerta, on July 12; and a GAF HQ ground situation report of July 12; on the Southern Russian Front: that GAF operations were hampered by bad weather, on July 12; and of strengthened Soviet fighter defences, on July 12.
