Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on South Europe: a report from the 15th Panzer Division on Sicily, for July 8; that Italian naval units leave Trapani without orders, on July 10; that the 14th Panzer Corps is in the Bari area, on July 6; German Air Force (GAF) reconnaissance reports a large convoy to be assembling off Bizerta, on July 10; and the GAF at Trapani report on an Allied air raid, on July 9; on South-east Europe: that an Allied submarine sinks ships at Lemnos, on July 9; on Roumania: that the GAF's conduct of night fighter operations was severely hampered by financial difficulties, on July 10; and on the Russian Front: a GAF ground situation report, for July 10.
