A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on South Europe: of the German battle situation, on the evening of July 10; of German Air Force (GAF) attacks on landing craft in Augusta harbour, on the morning of July 10; of British troops advancing on Caltagirone, on the morning of July 10; on GAF reconnaissance of the enemy near Caltagirone, on July 10; that the GAF are not to send vehicles to the Caltagirone area, on July 10; on the Allied landings and an advance north at Cape Passero, on the morning of July 10; that the GAF are to attack Allied landing areas in Gela bay, at first light on July 11; of the same orders for GAF SK10 aircraft, on July 11; on Allied landings and movements in Sicily, early in the morning of July 10; on a landing at Gela, on July 10; of ship sightings off Sicily, on July 10; on GAF reinforcements for Sicily, on July 10; of GAF aircraft being en route to Sicily, on the morning of July 10; of naval units being off Palermo, early on the morning of July 10; of a naval bombardment of Agrigento, on the morning of July 10; of the GAF's morning reconnaissance of ships off Sicily and landings, on July 10; that the German Navy destroyed and evacuated Empedocle, on July 10; on German ground forces fighting in Sicily, on July 10; and that the Hermann Goering Division is to attack and destroy the enemy - Hitler orders the use of all forces, on July 10.
