A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on South Europe: the German Air Force (GAF) report a Spitfire attack on Taormina, on July 9; a German report of landings on Sicily, but none on Sardinia, on July 10; that GAF reconnaissance shows 50 craft to be in Syracuse harbour, on July 10; that the GAF are to concentrate on landing troops rather than warships, on July 10; of GAF SK10 aircraft being located near Salerno, on July 9; a GAF reconnaissance report of the landing fleet off Sicily, early on the morning of July 10; of a GAF claim that parachutists in the Castel Vetrano area were mopped up, on July 10; that the GAF in Sicily has 150 fighters, as of July 9; and a German report of fighting on Favignana island off Sicily, on July 10.
