Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on South Europe: that Italian naval boats are to attack Allied naval forces on July 10; that a German E-boat flotilla was unable to force a passage to Augusta, on July 9; the German Air Force (GAF) report the landing of parachutists in the San Pietro area, on July 9; the German Navy reports Allied landings on Sicily and orders the destruction of harbours, on July 10; that a state of emergency was declared in Sicily, on the morning of July 9; that the GAF are to make a dawn reconnaissance on July 10 to pick up Allied landings; and that Syracuse was bombarded by the Allied Navy, on the evening of July 9.
