Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on South-east Europe: of a German Air Force (GAF) shortage of reconnaissance aircraft, on July 8; on South Europe: that a GAF reconnaissance unit is to assist in the dropping of agents, on July 8; of an Italian naval radio exercise planned for July 12-13; and that a German warns of a possible Allied landing at Cagliari, on July 8; on the South Atlantic: of convoys sailing with inexperienced escorts, on June 24; on South-east Europe: a GAF operational day report for July 7; Naval Headlines; from the Japanese minister in Sofia, on Axis defensive measures in the Balkans, on June 25; from the Japanese minister in Madrid, giving the views of the Spanish Foreign Minister; and that Spanish defences have been strengthened, on July 5; from the Japanese ambassador in Rome, that Italy awaits the Allied invasion, on July 2; from the Portuguese minister in Berlin, noting raised German morale, despite the air attacks, on July 5; from the Turkish minister in Buenos Aires, on the indiscretions of the Polish minister, on July 5; and a report addressed to Dr Salazar (not included).
