Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on South Europe: of an Allied raid on the German Air Force's (GAF's) Comiso airfield, on July 8; of Allied raids on Sicily, on July 8; of no damage being caused during an Allied raid, on July 8; of 17 raids on GAF Comiso, on July 8; that Allied raids caused heavy damage to Catania, on July 8; that GAF units are to transfer from Sicily to the mainland, on July 8; that the Italian Admiralty orders aircraft to carry out anti-submarine patrols, on July 8; that the GAF are evacuating stocks of aircraft torpedoes and bomb-mines from Sicily and Sardinia, on July 7; that some ammunition from a ship is to be unloaded on Sardinia, with the remainder to be returned to Italy, on July 7; of ammunition to be flown from Sicily and Sardinia, on July 8; that the state of alarm on Sicily has been cancelled, on July 8; a German ground situation report up to July 5, noting the enemy order of battle, and that the British 1st Airborne Division is moving; of an Allied convoy being sighted, on July 8; that the GAF are to make sea reconnaissance for a convoy on July 9; and a GAF report on a convoy, on July 8.
