Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on the Mediterranean/Southern Europe: of severe damage to the Olbia harbour installations following the Allied air raid, on June 24; that German Air Force (GAF) pilots from Sardinia are to go to the aircraft forwarding station at Vicenza to collect fighter aircraft for reconnaissance purposes as dedicated reconnaissance airframes are unavailable because of a breakdown in the aviation industry, on June 24; that GAF bomber units in southern Italy are to be prepared to deploy north in the event of imminent danger, on June 24; a further item on the move of GAF bomber units, from June 24; a very detailed GAF intelligence report for June 24, stating that some 2 million tons of Allied merchant shipping are in the western Mediterranean and there is sufficient in Algiers for one U.S. task force, that Allied landing operations are probably imminent, and noting heavy Allied air attacks against La Spezia and Venafiorita; and a detailed summary of the sabotage of bridges and railway lines in Greece on the night of June 20/21; on the Russian Front: that Japanese military transport aircraft are to fly from Tokyo to Sarabus, some 75 miles north-west of Simferopol in the Crimea, via Singapore on or after June 28, and a Japanese major-general is to fly from Berlin to Sarabus to meet the aircraft; and Naval Headlines.
