24 Jun 1943

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on the Mediterranean: that the Italian Aegean Army at Rhodes requests an increased issue of German anti-tank ammunition, on June 22; and from the Portuguese ambassador in London, that having passed to Eden the unfavourable reply from Lisbon on his proposed visit to that city to discuss the British request for the use of military facilities in the Azores, Eden is still pushing for a quick resolution to the problem, on June 23.
