Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe/Italy: that the 29th Panzer Division is now in Italy, as of June 18, with their equipment going via Foggia railway station; of there having been an outbreak of malaria among the Axis forces at Olbia in Sardinia since at least early June; of German proposals designed to allay Italian misgivings arising from the economic conditions following the increase of German troops in Italy, on June 16; of a heavy Allied bombing attack against the Sardinian port of Olbia, on June 18; that the Axis airfield at San Pietro in Sicily was severely damaged during an Allied air raid, on June 17; and that the German Air Force (GAF) plans a heavy air attack during the night of June 19/20 against an Allied east-bound convoy reported on June 18 off Algiers; and on the Russian Front: details of successful GAF air attacks against Russian targets in the North Caucasus during the night of June 17/18.
