A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: that ammunition shells reveal problems; and of a reference to a German division in Corsica, on June 16; of German reinforcements being sent to Corsica, on June 16; that the 16th Division Hermann Goering is to transfer to Sicily as soon as possible, from June 16; that the 16th Panzer Division was located south of Florence, as of June 8; that Kesselring had ordered the rapid despatch of units to augment those already in the Italian area, on June 16; of Italian defence orders to the effect that the German Sardinia Division need not intervene automatically in the west coast of Sardinia, on June 16; that with effect from late on June 19 flights will be prohibited by the German Air Force (GAF) over Corsica, on June 16; and that GAF reconnaissance of Malta airfields reveals an increase of nearly 50% over average in the number of aircraft on June 16; on South-east Europe: the Naval Command in Dalmatia reports that the experience at Pantelleria proved that severe bombing could make the supplying of detached outposts impossible, on June 15; and a report on operations by GAF Command for the South-east on June 15; on the Russian Front: of a GAF air attack on the Saratov oil refinery on the night of June 15; and the Japanese ambassador in Berlin reports on a liaison mission visit to the Eastern Front, on June 15.
