Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: of Pantelleria being bombarded again by the Allies, and its surrender being demanded, on June 8; that bombs are required in Sardinia for operations to be expected in the near future, on June 8; that Vibo Valentia is to be used by German shipping, on June 6; of a highly successful Allied air raid probably on Bari on June 6; a situation report including further details of an unsuccessful attempt to land on Lampedusa, on June 7; two reports concerned with difficulties in connection with the unloading of ships in Sardinia, on June 8; and of indications that a heavy tank unit is going to the 1st Panzer Division, on June 6; on South-eastern Europe: of indications that preparations for defence against air attack in Romania are still far from complete, on June 8; and on Western Europe: that a Flak U-boat was operating in the Bay of Biscay, on May 27.
