A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: a BONIFACE summary; on the Mediterranean: a German Air Force (GAF) appreciation that Allied shipping in Tunisia does not indicate landing undertakings, on May 29; of a shortage of small craft for unloading purposes in Sardinia, on May 29; that German E-boat flotillas are to transfer from Sicily to Marseilles, on May 29; that the sinking of small craft causes a serious situation in Sicily, on May 28; and of railway lines being overburdened in Sicily, on May 29. This file also includes correspondence concerning the protection of the Prime Minister (PM), on May 30; German secret service messages about the arrival of Churchill and de Gaulle at Gibraltar on May 27; an ULTRA/BONIFACE report for Air Cde Spencer, an alias for the PM, on May 31; and a message from the Japanese ambassador in Rome, describing Italian anxieties about Allied bombing and an Allied invasion, from May 23.
