Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: a BONIFACE summary; on the Mediterranean: a German Air Force (GAF) report on the bombing of Maddalena, on May 27; that in anticipation of Allied landings in southern France, GAF torpedo aircraft are to be transferred from Sardinia, on May 26; of a German reference to considerable reinforcements for Rhodes, on May 26; that GAF Command for the Southeast is reluctant to obey Hitler's air defence orders because of a shortage of ammunition, on May 27; that German E-boats are to avoid Pantelleria, on May 26; of Allied raids on Sardinia, on May 26; that the Germans are to set up supply bases in Sicily, on May 25; a GAF report on air raids on Sardinian airfields, for May 27; the GAF report aircraft were destroyed in an Allied raid on Foggia, on May 28; and of an Allied raid on Leghorn, on May 28. This file also includes a SUNSET intelligence summary to Washington, for May 27; and related contributions from the Director of Naval Intelligence (DNI) and the War Office (MI14); Naval Headlines; an ULTRA service to/from Algiers for the Prime Minister (PM), on May 28; and a final report on the Russian Front: a GAF ground situation survey, from May 27.
