This file contains a message from Miss Pettigrew for the Prime Minister (PM); and the following correspondence: from the Japanese minister in Budapest, on the future development of the war, on May 12; from the Japanese ambassador in Vichy, on Franco-German collaboration, on May 14; from the Portuguese minister in Washington, on the arrival of Churchill and Beaverbrook, on May 12; and from the Spanish chargé in London, that a British emissary to Stalin is to seek U.S. bases in the Soviet Union for operations against the Japanese, on May 11.
