This file includes the following reports on the Mediterranean: the German Naval Authority at Hammamet reports that guns have been blown up, and Grombalia has been taken, on May 10; the Ground Officer Commanding (GOC) Franz of the 19th Flak Division reports that Allied tanks have broken through south-west of Soliman, on May 10; on a proposal that an attempt be made to evacuate troops from Cape Bon lighthouse landing stage on the night of May 11-12 if the weather improved; of arrangements for an airdrop of supplies on Cape Bon Peninsula, on May 9; that Pantalleria airfield was given up and completely destroyed; that Cape Bon Peninsula was permanently blockaded by Allied air and sea forces, on May 10; of supply traffic to Africa being suspended, on May 10; and that two L-boats carrying naval and army personnel attempting to break through to Marsala request fighter protection, on May 10; and on the Russian Front: a day report for May 8 from the 17th Army, stating that a continuation of the Soviet attack along the whole front of the 44th Army Corps is expected; and that the 9th Infantry Division has been weakened by heavy losses.
