A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on the Mediterranean: of the orders for three E-boats carrying ammunition or fuel to Cape Bon from Empedocle, on May 9; of confirmation from the Italian Admiralty for all possible fast vessels to be sent to Kelibia, on May 10; of Rome informing the Tunisian authorities to expect fast craft for evacuation on the night of May 9-10; that lobster boats and harbour defence vessels are expected to arrive at Sidi Daoud and/or Kelibia on May 10 or 11; of preparations for unloading being requested; that 280 Italian naval personnel arrived at Cape Bon on May 9, with high-speed craft being requested for their evacuation; that a German submarine is ordered to be off Kelibia to take off personnel, on May 9-10; shipping losses off Cape Bon reported on May 9; and a situation report from the Cape Bon Sea Transport Authorities for May 9, that Kelibia and Sidi Daoud are coming under shelling and bomb attacks; and that a German Army authority demand for all L-boats and assault craft to be handed over to them was turned down.
