Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: a situation report from Army Group Africa, detailing a communications break down with the Fortress at Bizerta and the Division von Manteuffel; that superior Allied tank and infantry forces widened a break through between Mejerda and the road from Furna - Tunis; crushing Allied air superiority over the whole battle area; and that the lack of forces and fuel is preventing the movement of reserves; on the Mediterranean: of simultaneous air raids on Trapani and Marsala; of considerable damage to Reggio town and harbour, on May 6; a summary of German and Italian shipping activity, and of air transport arrangements to Tunisia, on May 6-7; and that a large-scale bomber and torpedo attack planned against an east-bound convoy was cancelled, on May 6.
