Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on the Mediterranean: that La Goulette was able to receive one small vessel only; that the approach road has been destroyed by bombs; that port installations are severely damaged; and of no ship losses at Tunis, with the Belluno being undamaged, on May 5; that Bizerta and Ferryville are being blocked and blown up, on May 6, with small craft transferring to Tunis, and four E-boats leaving for Sicily; of the order for blocking Bizerta, on May 6; that on evacuation from Bizerta the 7th E-boat Flotilla is to transfer to La Goulette, on May 5; of instructions from Vichy to Admiral Robert on Béarn to prevent French ships from falling into U.S. hands, on May 5; from the Turkish military attaché in Kuibyshev, on Soviet preparations for a summer offensive, on May 1; and from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, of the German use of Russian PoWs not only as a labour force but also as having military potential, on April 13.
