Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on the Mediterranean: a summary of Axis shipping convoys, for May 3-4, including the Belluno being due to arrive at Tunis, the Carbonello's sailing being postponed indefinitely, the Campo Basso being due in Tunis, Siebel ferries being en route to Tunis, and seven landing craft being en route for Bizerta; that an Axis vessel was blown up off Kelbia, on May 3; vessels are reported to be on fire off Cape Bon, on May 5; and that the Italian cruisers Garibaldi and Abruzzi are on passage for Taranto, on May 4; on North Africa: an Army Group Africa report for April 30, describing undiminished Allied pressure on the northern sector of the Panzer Army; that the German Africa Corps is under heavy artillery fire north of Pont du Fahs; and that the French De Gaulle Division has been identified in Tripolitania; that elements of the Hermann Goering Division arrived in Tunisia, on April 30; that no Arab or European labourers were available to carry out construction work at Sidi Daoud because of Allied air raids, on May 3; of the German Air Force (GAF) airfields available in Tunisia; that German aircraft are to drop supplies over Tunisia, on May 3-4; that all fighter bombers in Sicily are to be ready to operate over Tunisia, on May 4; a report from the Air Corps in Tunis on serviceable aircraft, and that several airfields including Bizerta are no longer serviceable, on May 4-5; and of the Bizerta wireless station being dismantled on May 3.
