This file contains a message from C to the Prime Minister (PM); and the following reports on North Africa: that the supply ships Belluno, Carbonello and Campo Basso are expected in Tunis, on May 3; a morning report from Army Group Africa for May 1, stating that Allied forces broke through to the line from Kef Touro-Kef En Nsour (6 km west of Garaet Achkel); and that landing craft required for Bizerta are to be sent as soon as the weather permits, on May 3; Naval Headlines, covering the German Army's request for tankers to be sent to Bizerta; that the Italian Naval authorities in Bizerta, anticipating Bizerta becoming unusable in the near future, requested at least four landing craft to evacuate their personnel; and that before Bizerta is evacuated all German E-boats are to return to Sicily; the Portuguese ambassador in Rio de Janeiro comments on local opinion of a Russian-Polish incident, on April 29; the Portuguese minister in Stockholm gives the Swedish view of the Russian-Polish incident, on April 29; and Ankara repeats a report from Moscow on Russian negotiations with Germany through the Japanese, on April 29.
