Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that 3 Italian ships are to unload at Tunis, on April 30/31; on the stated capacity of Tunis and La Goulette harbours, on April 30; that a hospital ship leaves La Goulette with 450 German wounded on board, on April 30; on survivors from a sunken Axis ship who landed at Kelibia and details of the equipment unloaded at Tunis, on April 30; that the Italians stopped 6 destroyers sailing for Tunis with troop reinforcements, on April 30; that 2 Italian destroyers loaded with troops for Tunisia were sunk by Allied action, on April 30; of the position of an Italian destroyer when it was sunk off Tunisia, on April 30; a German Air Force (GAF) summary report for April 30; and that 20 long-range bombers are to be transferred to Italy from bases in Greece and Crete, on April 30; from the Japanese minister in Berne, an instruction from Tokyo that the official line is to remain that there are no Japanese prisoners of war being held by the Allies; and reports from Berne on how Japanese prisoners will not be released in Japan, on April 27.
