Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: of coal stocks being exhausted at Bizerta, jeopardizing contingency plans to block the harbour, on April 27; of the Tunis Canal being blocked by sunken ships, on April 28; that Allied shelling of the coast from Sidi Daud to Cape Bon is considered by the Axis as testing the reaction to future Allied landings in the area, on April 28; that the Italian and German naval commands are preparing to move to the Cape Bon Peninsula, near to the other Axis HQs, on April 28; of increased RAF night-fighter activity off Sicily impeding Axis transport aircraft movements, on April 27; that the Tunis Air Corps is unable to meet all its commitments, and will operate in large formations in an attempt to overcome the Allied numerical superiority, on April 28; that Italian destroyers are to evacuate only Italian forces from Tunisia, on April 28; details of the German military personnel and equipment shipped from Tunisia to Sicily, on April 28; that vehicles intended to be shipped to the Tunis Air Corps from Italy and Sicily are to be held back, on April 28; a Tunis Air Corps report for April 28, counting 132 serviceable aircraft remaining; on tactical movements of the Axis forces in Tunisia, on April 27; that even compassionate leave to Europe is now banned for German troops; and 10 British agent reports from Tunisia, from April 25-28.
