Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that 3 Axis destroyers carrying troop reinforcements are expected at Tunis, on April 27; that the Tunis Air Corps loses 16 fighters to Allied action, on April 26; the Tunis Air Corps' aircraft return for April 26, counting 117 aircraft as serviceable; and the German Air Force (GAF) in Sardinia's situation report for April 26, stating that Allied air attacks were preventing GAF torpedo attacks against Allied shipping; on the Russian Front: of GAF preparations for the large-scale dropping of supplies from airfields in Ukraine, on April 26; on Yugoslavia: that elements of the 1st Mountain Division arrived in Serbia, on April 15; on the Mediterranean: that GAF aircraft fuel stocks on Sardinia for April 27 showed a reduction since April 22; that the GAF are to widely disperse aircraft on airfields following successful Allied air attacks against airfields in central and northern Italy, on April 27, and in particular that the GAF in Sardinia is to report any aircraft overcrowding; that dive-bomber units on Sardinia are to be transferred to Germany and Italy, on April 27; a detailed report on an Allied air attack against a GAF airfield on Sardinia, on April 27; and of there being a danger of a complete breakdown in supplies going to Tunisia if the supplies by sea are not dramatically increased, on April 27; and on Germany: on the housing of the homeless in Essen and Dusseldorf following Allied air raids, on April 27.
