This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that Marsch fighting battalions are to be sent over to Army Group Africa in May, as organised by the General Staff in Berlin, on April 20; that an assault gun unit of the Hermann Goering Division is required in Africa, on April 20; that the Italians failed to provide sufficient transport to make the 20th Flak Division mobile, on April 19; and of a request for drivers and replacement personnel, on April 20; and from the Turkish minister in Madrid, that the Allies are to hasten the invasion of France; that de Gaulle is to be the commander of an expeditionary force to be sent to France; that Giraud is to remain in Africa; and speculating on subsequent developments in France, on April 16.
