Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that the 10th Panzer Division expect a large-scale battle on April 4; the 10th Panzer Division's tank return, for April 4; that the expected attack has not yet materialised, on April 4; and that the Germans do not expect an attack by the 8th Army until there are more favourable moon conditions, on April 4; on the Mediterranean: that the German Air Force (GAF) at Sardinia is to speed up its construction of blast bays, on April 4; Naval Headlines; from the Spanish Foreign Minister, a briefing to the ambassador in London for his lunch with Churchill, on April 3 (see 2837); on GAF reconnaissance of Scapa Flow, on March 23, with a comment from the Prime Minister (PM) to the First Sea Lord (1SL); and the 1SL's reply, on April 4.
