Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that Army Group Africa has insufficient fuel, as of March 29; on the Mediterranean: a general report for March 30-31; on the Southern Russian Front: of the disposition of German Air Force (GAF) units in Crimea and Kuban, on March 31; of plans for German combined operations for an attack in the Novorossisk area, on April 6-8; and of there being little change on the Kuban Front, on March 31; Naval Headlines, covering U-boat movements, and shipping to Tunisia; from the Japanese minister in Bucharest, on the prospects for the German-Soviet war, on March 20; from the Japanese acting ambassador in Rome, giving Italian views of the Tunisian campaign, on March 27; and from the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the Eden-Roosevelt talks and their implications for Portuguese colonies in Africa, on March 30.
