Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: German Africa Corps reports on fighting in the El Guettar region, stating that the Centauro Division is badly battered, on March 23; that 1200 Italian troops were cut off in the Sened area, on March 23; that a German unit is in the Maknassy area after sustaining heavy losses, and is running short of ammunition, on March 23; that Major Medicus requests armament supplies as a result of heavy losses, on March 23; that the German Chief of Staff (COS) of the 1st Army expects an Allied attack on all three fronts in southern Tunisia during the night of March 23-24, from March 23; that the British are bringing up reinforcements on the southern Tunisian Front; that German are attacks requested, on March 24; and a naval report, on March 23.
