Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that a German Air Force (GAF) ground fighting unit moved into an area east of Maknassy, on March 22; that the Italians are in a state of panic, on March 22; the German Chief of Staff (COS) for the 1st Army reports engagements in the Mareth area and that an Italian strong point was captured by the British; the 2nd Air Corps reports that the defence line on the Mareth Front was finally restored by early March 23; that four companies of the Panzer Grenadier Regiment Africa in the Mareth area were without motor transport, on March 22; a GAF report that the situation at Mezzouna has eased and that the 10th Panzer Division is in action near Guettar; and a GAF report that 40 British tanks and 190 prisoners were taken in the area of the 15th Panzer Division; on the Mediterranean: that an Allied submarine sinks an Axis tanker; and on the Russian Front: that an experimental unit of Messerschmidt 110 aircraft is to be used near Kharkov for attacking tanks.
