Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that Kesselring is concerned on March 21 about the situation in central and southern Tunisia; that replacement aircraft, ammunition and aircraft fuel are needed urgently; that the Italians are to be asked to supply air transport; of the 5th Panzer Army's ration strength as at March 18, given as separate totals for the German Army, Air Force and Navy and one total for the Italians; the Tunis Air Corps' reconnaissance results for March 21; of the advance of Allied forces from the Gafsa area; that the Italian Centauro Division retreats to the By Hamran area, on March 21; a Tunis Air Corps report for March 21, detailing Allied forces advancing in the Mareth area, that Axis counter-thrusts were unsuccessful, and heavy Allied air strikes; a status report on eight Axis airfields in the rear following Allied bombing attacks, on March 21; the 1st Italian Army's tank returns for March 18; and that weather conditions prevent Axis air attacks from Sardinia against an Allied convoy, on March 21; on the Russian Front: of a lack of German Air Force (GAF) fighter resources, on March 20; and on Norway: that GAF reconnaissance operations from Tromso were ordered from March 22 in support of Operation SILESIA.
