Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa/the Mediterranean: that the Germans are preparing for the defence of Sardinia, on March 17; on the Russian Front: of German successes in the Belgorod and Kharkov areas; and of Soviet air attacks in the Novorossiysk and Crimean areas, on March 18; from the Turkish ambassador in Rome, a report of March 15 with additional information on Ribbentrop's visit to Rome; on signs of friction between Germany and Italy; on the Italians' refusal to send more men to the Russian Front or civilians to support the war effort in Germany; and sounding out Germany on a rapprochement with the Allies.
